Jackson Holliday went 2-for-4 with a walk and a solo home run against the Guardians on Sunday.

Holliday’s home run was his second of the year. He hit a solo shot off Gavin Williams in the fourth inning. Holliday seems to have made the necessary changes in the minor leagues to not only stick in the big leagues but be a fantasy asset for the rest of the season. The 20-year-old is hitting .173 with a .554 OPS and eight RBI on the season.

Gunnar Henderson went 3-for-4 with a walk, three runs scored and a two-run home run against the Guardians on Sunday.

The home run was Henderson’s 29th of the year. He hit a two-run shot off Gavin Williams in the fourth inning. It was his first big fly since July 14th. Henderson is hitting .293 with a .946 OPS and 69 RBI on the season.
Corbin Burnes

Corbin Burnes allowed five runs (four earned) in five innings and got the win in the Orioles’ 9-5 victory over the Guardians on Sunday.

Burnes gave up seven hits, walked one and struck out four. The win was his 12th of the season. The Orioles led 6-2 in the fifth inning when Burnes allowed a three-run home run to Josh Naylor. His ERA went up to 2.63 on the season. The 29-year-old right-hander is set to face the Rays on the road next week.

Mountcastle will get a breather for the series finally against Cleveland. Eloy Jimenez is the designated hitter with Ryan O’Hearn moving to first base against Gavin Williams and the Guardians.

Craig Kimbrel threw 18 pitches on Friday and has not been used in back-to-back outings in over a week, so it’s likely that the Orioles are still being cautious with their erstwhile closer after a poor stretch a few weeks ago. Canó now has five saves on the season and could be looked at as a part of a committee with Kimbrel, but he’s not taking over the closer’s role. At least not yet.

The 20-year-old is now 5-for-14 with two extra-base hits in four games since beginning his second stint in the majors. He’s too good of a hitter to continue to struggle the way he did earlier in the season, but it may take a few years before his power comes to a level that makes him a fantasy asset in that category, He should provide a solid batting average with the chance for good counting stats in a strong lineup the rest of the way.
Zach Eflin

Zach Eflin allowed two runs on five hits in 6 1/3 innings in a win over the Guardians on Sunday.

Eflin struck out three and walked one on the day. He also induced just nine whiffs on 45 swings for a 20 percent whiff rate but also had a solid 28 percent CSW. For the second straight start, Eflin threw his cutter more than he had with the Rays, getting a fair number of called strikes on it on Saturday. It could be a change that works for him. He’ll now take a 4.05 ERA into a solid start against his former team, the Rays, next week.

Adley Rutschman is not in the Orioles’ starting lineup for Saturday night’s ballgame against the Guardians.

Normally when Rutschman isn’t behind the place, he still sees action at designated hitter, but that’s no longer possible now that Eloy Jimenez is in the fold and healthy for the time being. James McCann will do the catching for the Orioles on Saturday evening and will bat eighth against Guardians’ left-hander Joey Cantillo.

Cowser has been dropped from leadoff to the seventh spot in Baltimore’s lineup with lefty-mashing veteran Austin Slater getting a shot to face Cleveland rookie Joey Cantillo on Saturday night. The 24-year-old rookie, who has been using a 34-inch bat since the All-Star break, has been tearing the cover off the ball of late, batting .386 (22-for-57) with four homers and 14 RBI in 15 games since the Midsummer Classic.

Orioles C/1B prospect Samuel Basallo went 3-for-4 with a solo homer and two RBI on Friday for Double-A Bowie.

Basallo remains firmly entrenched as one of the top fantasy prospects in the game as he’s continued to tear the cover off the ball in the upper minors at just 19 years old. He’s up to 14 round-trippers so far through 86 contests this season at the Double-A level.
