Ky Bush took a loss in his major league debut after allowing three runs in four innings Monday against the A’s.

Bush allowed just two hits, but he walked five, hit a batter and threw wild pitch in a nervous outing. He’ll likely show better control next time out, but fantasy value isn’t in the cards.

Luis Robert Jr. went 0-for-4 on Monday, dropping his average to .210.

We probably shouldn’t make sweeping judgments on Robert, given that he’s playing for a comatose ballclub, but this is getting rather ugly. He’s hit .143/.182/.254 with a 32/3 K/BB in 16 games since the All-Star break. One more bad game will drop his OPS under .700 for the season.

White Sox selected the contract of LHP Ky Bush from Triple-A Charlotte.

Bush will make his major league debut against the A’s tonight. He had a 6.16 ERA in four appearances after moving up to Triple-A, though he came in as 2.12 in 14 starts in Double-A. He has a chance to be a decent bottom-of-the-rotation guy for the White Sox, though it might take some time.

White Sox activated RHP Dominic Leone from the 60-day injured list.

Leone had been out since late May with elbow inflammation. In four rehab appearances, he allowed two runs and posted a 7/0 K/BB ratio in four innings for Triple-A Charlotte. He might well emerge as the favorite for saves in the White Sox pen, though that doesn’t make him worth picking up right now.

White Sox optioned RHP Prelander Berroa to Triple-A Charlotte.

Berroa allowed three runs in 1 2/3 innings over two appearances this weekend. It was hoped that he might emerge as the White Sox’s closer at some point this season, but it really doesn’t look like that’s going to happen. Even in Triple-A, he had a 6.69 ERA and 28 walks in 40 1/3 innings.

Perhaps he would have been sent down today anyway, but it became a given Peralta would be demoted for a fresh arm after he threw 3 1/3 scoreless innings in relief of Chris Flexen on Sunday.

The White Sox plan to promote Ky Bush from Triple-A Charlotte to start against the Athletics on Monday.

It will be the MLB debut for the 24-year-old southpaw who was acquired from the Angels in the Lucas Giolito trade. Bush has really struggled in four outings (two starts) since getting promoted to Triple-A Charlotte on July 1 — posting a 6.16 ERA, 1.53 WHIP and a 16/10 K/BB ratio over 19 innings — making the timing of the promotion a bit interesting. He’ll see if he can stop the White Sox’ 20-game losing streak when he takes the mound on Monday night.

Chris Flexen was lit up for eight runs — six earned — in 1 2/3 innings Sunday in a loss to the Twins.

No one made a bid for Flexen before the deadline, which was understandable; even before today, he was 2-10 with a 5.13. The White Sox have gone 2-20 in 22 starts this season. He’ll probably be bumped to middle relief at some point here.

Steven Wilson gave up three runs in his inning against the Twins on Sunday.

We hope no one was desperate enough for saves to give Wilson a pickup after the White Sox traded Michael Kopech. Wilson seemed like as reasonable of a bet as any of the team’s mediocre options, but he’s given up 11 runs in his last three appearances, taking his ERA from 3.03 to 5.91.
Brooks Baldwin

CWS Second Baseman #27

Brooks Baldwin went 3-for-4 with an RBI and a walk versus the Twins on Sunday.

Baldwin was hitting .175/.214/.275 through 12 games before the White Sox decided to move him up to the second spot in the lineup Friday. Lo and behold, it’s actually worked out so far, as he hit his first big-league homer Saturday and turned in a nice showing today. What Baldwin still hasn’t done is seen his ballclub win a game. The White Sox’s 20-game losing streak encompasses his entire major league career to date.
