Shohei Ohtani collected his 32nd homer and 34th stolen base Monday as the Dodgers topped the Phillies 5-3.

He also doubled. Ohtani leads the NL in average (.309), OBP (.397), slugging (.631), homers and runs scored (86) this season. He’s also tied for second in the majors in steals, though he’s definitely not catching Elly De La Cruz (57) in that category.

LAD Starting Pitcher #31

Tyler Glasnow pitched six innings of three-run ball Monday in a win over the Phillies.

Glasnow struck out nine and walked none. He really should have given up just one run, but center fielder Andy Pages got turned around a couple of times going for a flyball in the second, gifting Nick Castellanos a triple. Glasnow moved to 9-6 with a 3.54 ERA.
Daniel Hudson

LAD Relief Pitcher #41

Daniel Hudson protected a two-run lead in the ninth for his eighth save Monday against the Phillies.

The Dodgers had Evan Phillips warming up in the eighth, but when it came time for the ninth, Hudson was used for the third time in four days. He allowed a leadoff single, but he then retired the last three hitters in the Phillies lineup, as the team declined to pinch-hit for Austin Hays or Garrett Stubbs. Hudson will almost certainly get Tuesday off now, perhaps leading to a save chance for Phillips or Joe Kelly.

PHI Starting Pitcher #27

Aaron Nola surrendered four runs in six innings Monday in a loss to the Dodgers.

In what could well be a playoff preview, Nola got outdueled by Tyler Glasnow tonight. The Phillies have now lost four straight Nola starts, though this is the first of those in which Nola has taken the decision. They went 15-4 in his first 19 starts.

OAK Starting Pitcher #38

JP Sears limited the White Sox to one run over seven innings in Oakland’s 5-1 victory on Monday.

That’s 21 straight losses for the White Sox. Sears allowed three hits, walked one and struck out five in an efficient outing, and he’s moved to 9-8 with a 4.35 ERA for the season. That win-loss record is a huge improvement from last year, which he finished 5-16 with a 4.54 ERA.
Ky Bush

CWS Starting Pitcher #83

Ky Bush took a loss in his major league debut after allowing three runs in four innings Monday against the A’s.

Bush allowed just two hits, but he walked five, hit a batter and threw wild pitch in a nervous outing. He’ll likely show better control next time out, but fantasy value isn’t in the cards.
Lawrence Butler

OAK Right Fielder #4

Held out of the A’s lineup for the first time since July 12, Lawrence Butler homered anyway Monday, delivered a solo shot as a pinch-hitter in the sixth.

He then finished the game in right field. Butler was being rested against a lefty after going 1-for-11 with seven strikeouts against the Dodgers over the weekend. The homer tonight was his 13th in 80 games this season.
Luis Robert Jr.

CWS Center Fielder #88

Luis Robert Jr. went 0-for-4 on Monday, dropping his average to .210.

We probably shouldn’t make sweeping judgments on Robert, given that he’s playing for a comatose ballclub, but this is getting rather ugly. He’s hit .143/.182/.254 with a 32/3 K/BB in 16 games since the All-Star break. One more bad game will drop his OPS under .700 for the season.
Chris Martin

BOS Relief Pitcher #55

Chris Martin, who has missed a month with elbow soreness, is likely to come off the injured list on Wednesday.

Previous indications were that Martin would begin a rehab assignment Wednesday, but it appears the Red Sox will activate him without one. Cooper Criswell or Josh Winckowski could be demoted.

TEX Shortstop #8

Josh Smith went 1-for-5 with a two-run home run against the Astros on Monday.

Smith’s home run was his 12th of the year. He hit a game-winning walkoff home run off Caleb Ferguson in the 10th inning. Smith is hitting .278 with an .811 OPS and 48 RBI on the year.
