  • STL Center Fielder #11
Victor Scott II went 0-for-3 with a strikeout on Monday in the Cardinals’ shutout loss to the Mets.
Making his first start in the big leagues since April 19, Scott went hitless and is now batting .081 (5-for-62) with two steals this season at the highest level. The 23-year-old offers game-breaking speed once he gets on-base, but remains a work in progress at the plate. He’ll continue to get chances in center field with Michael Siani on the injured list after Dylan Carlson was shipped to the Rays at the trade deadline.
  • STL Relief Pitcher #53
Andre Pallante was torched for five runs over 4 2/3 innings on Monday in a loss to the Mets.
Pallante wasn’t terrible in this one, but things snowballed out of control in the fifth inning when he surrendered a bases-clearing double to Tyrone Taylor following a run-scoring double from Harrison Bader earlier in the frame. He struck out two and also issued a pair of walks. Given his relatively pedestrian strikeout totals, he’s not a recommended option for fantasy managers when he faces the Royals on Saturday in a challenging road tilt.
  • STL Shortstop #0
Masyn Winn blasted a two-run homer on Sunday night, but it wasn’t enough to lead the Cardinals to victory over the Cubs.
The 22-year-old shortstop opened the scoring in the ballgame with a 402-foot (100.5-mph EV) two-run blast off of Justin Steele in the fourth inning. That was the extent of the Cardinals’ offense in the game. Winn finished the night 1-for-4 and is now hitting .279/.325/.414 with nine long balls and 41 RBI on the season.
  • STL Starting Pitcher #39
Miles Mikolas was hit hard in a losing effort against the Cubs on Sunday night, allowing four runs on eight hits across his four-plus frames.
The 35-year-old right-hander also issued a pair of walks in the contest while recording three strikeouts. He kept the Cubs off the scoreboard completely through the first three innings, but the Cubs broke through in the fourth as Dansby Swanson plated a run with a ground ball and Mike Tauchman scored on a balk. Mikolas then returned for the fifth where he allowed three straight singles and a walk — pushing a run across and leaving the bases loaded with nobody out. Fortunately for him, only one additional run scored. He’ll try to get back on track and improve upon his 5.12 ERA, 1.27 WHIP and 86/22 K/BB ratio (128 1/3 innings) when he does battle against the Royals in Kansas City on Friday.
  • STL Center Fielder #63
Cardinals placed OF Michael Siani on the 10-day injured list with a right oblique strain.
As expected, Siani will land on the injured list with the oblique strain that he suffered during Saturday’s contest against the Cubs. He’s going to miss a couple of weeks at a minimum and it could be longer than that depending on the Grade of the strain. Victor Scott II was recalled from Triple-A Memphis in a corresponding move on Sunday to add depth in the outfield while Siani is sidelined.

Cardinals recalled OF Victor Scott II from Triple-A Memphis.
With Michael Siani hitting the injured list with a right oblique strain, Scott will get another chance to show what he can do at the big-league level. The 23-year-old speedster opened the season as the club’s starting center fielder but slashed just .085/.138/.136 with zero homers, two RBI and two stolen bases in 65 plate appearances before getting demoted. If he sees everyday action, his speed could make him an impact addition in mixed leagues down the stretch.
  • STL Center Fielder #63
Katie Woo of The Athletic reports that Michael Siani (oblique) will be placed on the 10-day injured list prior to Sunday’s game against the Cubs.
Siani was removed from the game against the Cubs on Saturday with tightness in his right oblique, and the Cardinals won’t have the outfielder available for the next week-plus. Woo reports that St. Louis will call up Victor Scott to take Siani’s place on the roster. Scott has big-time speed, but hasn’t hit well enough to suggest fantasy significance.
  • STL Right Fielder #41
Alec Burleson launched a solo homer on Saturday, powering the Cardinals to a 5-4 comeback win over the Cubs.
Burleson kicked off the scoring with a first-inning blast -- his 19th round-tripper of the season -- off Cubs starter Jameson Taillon. He also kicked off the Cardinals’ eighth-inning rally with a one-out walk before coming around to score later in the frame on Brendan Donovan’s single. The 25-year-old corner outfielder has hit a bit of a cold spell over the last few weeks, but still has seven homers over his last 30 contests.
  • STL Relief Pitcher #56
Ryan Helsley fired a scoreless ninth inning on Saturday against the Cubs to record his major league-leading 34th save of the season.
Helsley got the call to guard a one-run lead in the final frame after the Cardinals erased a three-run deficit over the final two frames to pull off an impressive comeback win. It was a much-needed bounce-back effort for the 30-year-old All-Star stopper after surrendering three runs on Thursday in an ugly blown save against Chicago. He’s converted 34 of 37 save opportunities this season.
  • STL Starting Pitcher #44
Kyle Gibson struck out seven and allowed four runs over seven innings on Saturday in a no-decision against the Cubs.
Gibson settled in nicely after allowing four runs over the first two frames, keeping the Cubs off the scoreboard in his final five innings of work. He was fortunate that St. Louis’ offense rallied in the late stages of the contest to take him off the hook for a loss. He’ll bring a serviceable 4.04 ERA, 1.31 WHIP and 109/47 K/BB ratio across 120 innings (21 starts) into a home outing on Thursday against the Rays.
