  • SF Wide Receiver #11
NBC Bay Area’s Matt Maiocco reports the 49ers have agreed to the “framework” of a Brandon Aiyuk trade with both the Patriots and Browns.
Per Maiocco, “now it’s up to Aiyuk to decide if he will accept either team’s contract terms.” It’s odd timing for a deal of this nature, but things are looking irreparable between the 49ers and their co-No. 1 receiver. The 2020 first-rounder just wants to get paid heading into the final season of his rookie deal, and the star-laden Niners aren’t in a great position to do so. This should get resolved within the next 24 hours. Both the Pats and Browns would be a steep fantasy downgrade, but the Pats far, far — far — more so.
  • SF Running Back #31
    49ers signed RB Matt Breida.
Rookie Isaac Guerendo picked up a hamstring injury on the first day of camp and presumed top backup Elijah Mitchel did not practice on Monday, both of which could have combined to force the 49ers’ hand in bringing in a familiar veteran face. Whether or not Breida’s presence is anything more than camp depth remains to be seen, but the two sides reunite for the first time since 2019.
  • HOU Head Coach #59
Texans head coach DeMeco Ryans told reporters that starters will play in preseason Week 1 against the Steelers.
Speaking to reporters Monday, Texans head coach DeMeco Ryans said that starters will see snaps against the Steelers in preseason Week 1. “You just have to go through and play live reps of football before September. You’ll see our ones go out and get reps this week against Pittsburgh.” How long the starters will remain in the game remains to be seen, but it is now evident that we will see them on the field against the Steelers.
  • DEN Defensive Lineman #96
NFL reinstated Broncos DT Eyioma Uwazurike from suspension.
Uwazurike was handed an indefinite suspension by the league last offseason for violating the personal conduct policy after being found to have gambled on NFL games. The third-year player released a statement following his reinstatement, saying “I am grateful to the Denver Broncos and the National Football League for giving me the opportunity to resume my NFL career. I’ve learned from this situation and taken steps to ensure it will never happen again.” Uwazurike appeared in eight games for the Broncos in his rookie season in 2022 and should now face an uphill battle for snaps behind a revamped defensive line.
  • GB Tight End #85
Packers activated TE Tucker Kraft (pec) from the physically unable to perform list.
Kraft passed his physical and was activated from the PUP list. The Packers are expected to bring him along slowly with head coach Matt LaFleur stating that the second-year tight end would likely spend some time on the side in individual drills before eventually making his way back into full practices. Even so, Kraft was facing the possibility of missing the first four weeks of the season while on the PUP list, something that his activation seems to hint against. Look for Kraft to mix in with fellow second-year tight end Luke Musgrave in the weekly game plan this season.
  • CAR Wide Receiver #15
Panthers listed WR Jonathan Mingo as a starter on the team’s first depth chart.
Rookie WR Xavier Legette, struggling with a foot injury that could keep him out a while, is listed as a second-team option for Carolina. Mingo has drawn a surprising amount of praise and hype after a spectacularly awful rookie season in the Panthers offense. He had 43 catches for 418 scoreless yards as a full-time Carolina starter in 2023. It appears Mingo has a chance to start alongside Adam Thielen and Diontae Johnson.
  • KC Kicker #7
Chiefs signed K Harrison Butker to a four-year contract extension worth $25.6 million.
The new deal for Butker includes $17 million in guarantees and makes him the league’s highest paid kicker. The former Panthers castoff has been one of the NFL’s best kickers over his seven seasons with Kansas City, hitting 89 percent of his field goal attempts and 94.5 percent of his extra points. After a down year in 2022, Butker came back strong in 2023 with 33 field goals on 35 attempts. He made all five of his attempts of more than 50 yards after struggling from distance in 2022.
  • NYJ Running Back
Braelon Allen is listed as the top backup running back in the Jets’ first depth chart of 2024.
Allen is listed behind Breece Hall, but ahead of both Isaiah Davis and Israel Abanikanda on the depth chart. The Jets added Allen with the 134th pick of the draft in April, and the former Wisconsin tailback has reportedly impressed as a pass catcher in preseason work. Allen has long-term upside, but his 2024 fantasy value is tied to Hall’s health.
  • CLE EDGE #99
Za’Darius Smith was carted off the field during Monday’s practice with an injury.
No word yet as to the severity of the injury, nor what the actual injury is. The 31-year-old was re-signed to a two-year, $23.5 million deal in March and is expected to pair with Myles Garrett to pair one of the better pass-rushing duos in the NFC North.
  • LV Wide Receiver #80
Raiders WR Jeff Foreman was carted off the field Monday with a left leg air cast.
It was a non-contact injury for Foreman. The wideout attempted to make a catch on a low pass and got his legs tangled together according to Paul Gutierrez of ESPN. Foreman joined the Raiders from Arkansas State as an UDFA, and is battling for one of the final spots on the roster.
