The Mariners have promoted 2023 first-round pick Colt Emerson to high-A Everett.

Emerson, who missed time with a broken foot, hit .294/.400/.427 in 40 games for low-A Modesto. He’s viewed as one of the game’s top infield prospects.

SEA Starting Pitcher #36

Logan Gilbert was outstanding in a tough-luck loss against the Phillies on Sunday afternoon, surrendering just one run on four hits over six stellar frames.

The right-hander racked up seven strikeouts on the day and didn’t allow a base on balls. The lone tally against him came on a leadoff home run off the bat of Kyle Schwarber on the third pitch of the ballgame. Gilbert then settled in beautifully and kept the Phillies’ offense at bay through six innings, but his offense didn’t provide him with a single run of support. He generated 17 swings and misses on 98 pitches on the afternoon, registering a CSW of 32 percent. He’ll attempt to get back in the win column as he carries a 3.05 ERA, 0.89 WHIP and a 143/26 K/BB ratio (147 2/3 innings) into Saturday’s matchup against the Mets in Seattle.
Randy Arozarena

Randy Arozarena doubled twice and scored two runs in an extra-inning win over the Phillies on Saturday.

Arozarena has now doubled 22 times on the season. He came around to score both times on the two-baggers. Since joining Seattle just before the deadline, Arozarena is slashing .333/.455/.556 with a homer and three doubles.
Mitch Haniger

Mitch Haniger went 2-for-3 with a homer and drew a game-winning walk in the bottom of the 10th to give the Mariners a 6-5 win over the Phillies on Saturday.

Haniger probably should have struck out twice in his game-winning (shrimp) walk, but he didn’t, and he took a pitch up high on a 3-2 count to give the Mariners the win. The 33-year-old also hit a solo homer to get Seattle on the board in the fifth and gives him 11 on the season. Haniger has looked good over the last week-plus, and he’s been known to be a streaky player. It’s not crazy to think of him as an option for outfield-needy teams. You can probably do better, however.
Bryce Miller

Bryce Miller didn’t get a decision after allowing four runs in 4 1/3 innings in his start against the Phillies on Saturday.

Miller allowed three of his four runs after leaving the game, but he loaded the bases with one out in the fifth so he’s deserving of the blame. He also gave up a run on a fielder’s choice in the first. Between those scoring plays, Miller pitched pretty well, but this is a disappointing fantasy outing for the 25-year-old. He’ll face the Tigers next week.
Jorge Polanco

Jorge Polanco (knee) returned to the Mariners’ starting lineup on Saturday.

The 31-year-old second baseman was pulled from Wednesday’s game with renewed soreness in his knee and sat out Friday’s contest as a precautionary measure. He’s right back in there at second base though and batting fifth for the Mariners on Saturday against the Phillies.
Jhonathan Diaz

Mariners optioned LHP Jhonathan Díaz to Triple-A Tacoma.

With Jonathan Hernandez joining the big-league bullpen on Saturday, someone needed to be sent out to free up a spot and unfortunately that fell on Díaz this time around. The 27-year-old southpaw posted a troublesome 7.11 ERA, 2.37 WHIP and a 5/2 K/BB ratio in 6 1/3 innings over three appearances with the M’s.
Victor Robles

Victor Robles homered and stole a base in a win for the Mariners over the Phillies on Friday.

Robles gave hit a leadoff homer for the Mariners in the first inning for his third dinger of the season. He also singled while stealing his 14th base of the 2024 campaign. Robles has been an incredible find for Seattle, and it’s time to take his .308/.387/.452 slash seriously, if you haven’t already.
Luke Raley

Luke Raley hit a three-run homer in a blowout win over the Phillies on Friday for the Mariners.

Raley turned a 1-0 game into a 4-0 cushion with a three-run shot off a completely ineffective Tyler Phillips in the second inning. The outfielder has been inconsistent in his first year with Seattle to say the least, as he’s gone deep 12 times with 32 RBI and a .698 OPS thus far.
Justin Turner

SEA Designated Hitter #2

Justin Turner went 2-for-4 with a grand slam in a 10-2 rout of the Phillies on Friday.

In his first game in Seattle, Turner punctuated the blowout with a grand slam of Tyler Phillips in the second inning to make it 8-0 Mariners. The 39-year-old has seven homers on the year; the previous six with the Blue Jays. Turner’s overall slash of .261/.351/.382 isn’t great, but keep in mind that so much of it is based on one bad month. Outside of May, he’s been a strong option.
