  • SEA Quarterback #7
Smith sustained a hip injury last week during practice that required testing, but was considered short term in nature. Smith’s return to practice in such short order suggests it’s not an ailment that will linger into the middle and late parts of August. Smith, 33, told reporters last week that he intends to run more in 2024. Smith in 2023 had a mere 55 yards on 37 carries after rushing for 366 yards on 68 carries as Seattle’s starter in 2022. He said he “can add an extra element to what defenses have to account for if I get a couple extra first downs or a couple extra touchdowns” on the ground.

Diggs can earn up to $5 million on his new contract and rejoins former Seahawks teammate Jamal Adams in the Music City. Last season, Diggs totaled 95 tackles, one interception, and five pass breakups while starting all 17 games he appeared in. Diggs has played in and started every regular-season game over the last four seasons and earned a PFF coverage grade of 55.4 on over 1,100 defensive snaps.
  • SEA Quarterback #7
Smith had just 155 yards on 37 carries in 2023 after rushing for 366 yards on 68 carries the year prior, including just 10 rushing first downs after amassing 24 in 2022. “Last year, really midway through the season, I felt I could have used my legs a little bit more,” Smith told ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler. “That’s something I want to continue to do. I’m still very athletic. I play within the pocket, that’s the base of my game, but I think I can add an extra element to what defenses have to account for if I get a couple extra first downs or a couple extra touchdowns.”
  • SEA Quarterback #7
Condotta reports a “source confirmed that Smith’s injuries are not considered significant, as first reported by ESPN Friday morning. But the team will know for certain once the test on his hip is completed Friday.” He carefully reiterated that it “is still the expectation that Smith won’t miss much time. But the team will have a firmer idea of all of Smith’s ailments after the hip imaging on Friday.” Smith appears highly likely to suit up for Week 1 but this remains a situation to monitor. Backup Sam Howell reportedly “took all of the snaps with the first team offense on Thursday... and did so during the early portion of Friday’s practice, as well.”
  • SEA Quarterback #7
Smith underwent imaging on his knee and hip after he missed back-to-back practices and is expected to remain sidelined on Friday. Whatever he’s dealing with, it’s encouraging that the imaging didn’t reveal anything of major concern. Until we hear something different, it sounds like it’ll just be a matter of time before Smith returns to the field. The 33-year-old quarterback is in the second year of a three-year deal he signed last offseason and is hoping to bounce back to his 2022 form after throwing for 3624-20-9 last season. Smith finished as the QB23 in fantasy points per game (18.0) last season and has more value in 2QB/Superflex leagues than he does in traditional 1QB leagues.
  • SEA Quarterback #7
Coach Mike Macdonald declined to name the body parts, but it’s reportedly Smith’s knee and hip. He has missed back-to-back practices and isn’t supposed to go on Friday, either. This is a good reminder that Smith, despite his relatively light career workload, is going on 34. Whatever it is doesn’t seem likely to imperil his Week 1 status, at least yet. It is a concern in that Smith is losing time to learn and install Ryan Grubb’s new offense. Smith remains best treated as a QB2 streamer in fantasy.
  • SEA Safety #20
Love was entering the second season of a two-year, $12 million deal with the Seahawks, and is now extended for three more years. He cashes in after his first season in Seattle saw him tally four interceptions and 10 passes defended while receiving a Pro Bowl nod. Love spent four seasons with the Giants prior to signing with the Seahawks, becoming a starter in the secondary more recently while also playing some special teams. The three-year extension indicates the Seahawks are confident in Love continuing to hold down the back end of the secondary while they move on from Jamal Adams.
  • SEA Tackle #72
Lucas is continuing to rehab from a knee injury that plagued him through much of last season. Lucas was injured in Week 1 and wound up missing 11 games as a result. He allowed two sacks on 17 pressures while earning a PFF blocking grade of 53.1 — a steep drop-off from his rookie performance in 2022. In addition to Lucas, the Seahawks also placed linebackers Jerome Baker (knee) and Tyrel Dodson on the active/PUP list.
  • SEA Wide Receiver #11
Smith-Njigba went on to note Grubb’s frequent use of motion and “putting us in the right position to make plays.” The young receiver famously suffered through a shallow, 6.4-yard average depth of target (aDOT) in former OC Shane Waldron’s offense last year. Smith-Njigba’s praise suggests he will be used in a more diverse role under Grubb, which bodes positively for his fantasy outlook. Grubb’s 2023 Washington offense produced a 19.5 percent explosive pass play rate (15-plus yards) when using motion, seventh-best among Power Five offenses.
  • TEN Safety #33
Adams, 28, was released by the Seahawks at the end of the 2023 season. The former First-team All-Pro played in 34 of a possible 67 regular season games during his four-year tenure with the team and has played in just 10 games over the last two seasons. A myriad of injuries have plagued Adams in recent years, with a quad tear ending his 2022 season in Week 1, and a concussion and knee strain limiting him to nine games in 2023. Adams earned a PFF coverage grade of 50.7 while playing on 287 coverage snaps. The former do-it-all safety, who once racked up 9.5 sacks in a season, hasn’t recorded a sack since 2020 and is far from the player he once was. Despite this, he should have plenty to offer a Titans secondary that’s undergone a major overhaul this offseason.
