Brandon Lowe went 2-for-4 with a double and an RBI against the Astros on Sunday.

Lowe’s RBI double off Spencer Arrighetti in the third inning was the difference in the Rays’ 1-0 victory. He’s been hot at the plate lately. Lowe is 30-for-86 (.348) with five home runs and 14 RBI over his last 24 games. He’s battled injuries as he usually does, but is quietly having a nice season. Lowe is hitting .269 with an .859 OPS and 38 RBI on the season.

Peter Fairbanks tossed a scoreless ninth inning and got the save against the Astros on Sunday.

Fairbanks’ save was his 21st of the season. He struck out two batters in a perfect ninth inning. Fairbanks has a 2.95 ERA on the year. He remains a very reliable fantasy closer.

TB Starting Pitcher #14

Tyler Alexander tossed 4 1/3 scoreless innings and got the win in the Rays’ 1-0 victory over the Astros on Sunday.

Alexander gave up two hits, walked one and struck out five. The win was his fifth of the season. He was the bulk reliever for Tampa Bay as he followed Hunter Bigge, who pitched 2/3 innings. Alexander has a 5.43 ERA on the season.

TB Third Baseman #2

Yandy Díaz was removed from Sunday’s game against the Astros with a left wrist contusion.

The 32-year-old first baseman was attempting to field a sharp ground ball off the bat of Yordan Alvarez that struck him in the wrist. He tried to shake it off and stay in the game but was ultimately unable to do so. Fortunately, the precautionary X-rays came back negative for any fractures and Díaz is considered day-to-day.

TB Relief Pitcher #43

Hunter Bigge will work as an opener for the Rays on Sunday against the Astros.

It’ll be the 26-year-old right-hander’s third appearance with the Rays this season, but his first time working as a starter. Expect him to work an inning — or perhaps into the second — before turning the ball over to a bulk reliever like Tyler Alexander.

Josh Lowe went 4-for-5 with two home runs and three RBI in a 6-1 win over Houston on Saturday.

Of Lowe’s four hits, three were hit over 100 mph, including a 107.3 mph home run off of Ronel Blanco in the fifth inning. Lowe is now 13-for-37 (.351) in 11 games with two home runs, two steals, and eight RBI in 11 games after the All-Star break. The Rays continue to sit him against every lefty which is a bit of a hit to his fantasy value.

Brandon Lowe went 3-for-5 with two RBI in a win over the Astros on Saturday.

All three of Lowe’s hits were singles but two of them were over 100 mph, so he wasn’t dinking and dunking the ball around the yard. Lowe has continued to start against lefties in recent weeks, making him a full-time player who has gone 15-for-47 (.319) with three home runs and 10 RBI in 13 games. He should be added in more formats while he’s healthy and hitting well.
Zack Littell

TB Relief Pitcher #52

Zack Littell allowed one run on four hits in 5 2/3 innings in a win over the Astros on Saturday.

Littell struck out three and walked one while inducing 10 whiffs on 40 swings for a 25 percent whiff rate and 29 percent CSW on the day. The only damage was a solo home run to Jon Singleton in the second inning. With the Rays trading away Zach Eflin and Aaron Civale, Littell’s rotation spot is secured, even with the rest of the Rays’ rotation getting healthy. He’ll take a 4.06 ERA into a tough start with the Orioles next week.
Richie Palacios

TB Left Fielder #1

Richie Palacios will be sidelined for 4-6 weeks after being diagnosed with a right knee sprain.

Palacios, who landed on the injured list prior to Friday’s series opener against the Astros, will be completely shut down from baseball activities for at least the next 10-14 days. There’s optimism the versatile 27-year-old will make it back before the regular season wraps up, but there’s very little room for any sort of setback.
Xavier Isaac

TB First Baseman #55

Rays 1B prospect Xavier Isaac went 0-for-4 with four strikeouts on Friday for Double-A Montgomery.

Welcome to Double-A, kid. Isaac had a rough night on Friday in his upper-minors debut, but remains one of the more interesting slugging prospect out there from a fantasy perspective. The 20-year-old first baseman earned the midseason promotion after posting a .917 OPS with 15 homers in 70 games to open the year at High-A Bowling Green.
